Parent's Guide to SAT Preparation for Your Child - Part 1

The SAT popularly known as Scholastic Assessment Test has always been a crucial milestone in the progression to higher education among students. As a parent, you play a vital role in helping your child navigate this significant challenge. Below is a guide that will help you to know how to support your child through SAT preparation effectively.

Understanding the SAT in Delhi

The SAT shows how prepared a student is for college and gives colleges one factor that can be used to evaluate all students. They are Reading, Writing and Language, Math (with and without a calculator), and a non-mandatory Essay. Being aware of the format of the SATs and the topics covered can assist in the understanding of what your child requires to be learning.

Creating a Study Plan

1. Start Early:

One should start preparations for the SAT examination a year before the intended date. It is recommended that students should begin getting acquainted with the test at least one year before their desired date for sitting for the test. This ensures that all is done with enough time to avoid last-minute stress which is very unhealthy.

2. Set Goals:

Involve your child in realistic and achievable goals. It is recommended to take the diagnostic test to get the overview of a student's current level of knowledge and then set the goal, reflecting the desired score according to colleges a student would like to attend.

3. Develop a Schedule:

Try to plan the week in advance, and assign certain periods of the week for focusing on the SAT. It should be noted that consistency is a major factor here, so it is also important not to overdo it and leave enough time for occasional breaks between study sessions.

Resources and Materials

1. Official SAT Practice Tests:

Utilise free resources like the official SAT practice tests available online or at the best SAT coaching in Delhi. These tests provide a clear understanding of the format and types of questions asked.

2. Study Guides and Books:

Select highly recommended books for SAT that contain complete information about each of the sections. It is advisable to look for guides which come with sample questions, comprehensive solutions, and tips to the exams.

3. Online Courses and Tutorials:

You should consider putting the child in online SAT classes in Delhi. Most of the available platforms feature lessons, quizzes, and even individual feedback.
